The approach

Nuuk Rental hands people the keys to a car and points them at the fjords. The site has to do the unglamorous part first: pick-up and drop-off, dates, times, vehicle class, availability, and a search that returns something bookable rather than an error. The reservation form sits in the hero, so the first thing you can do on the page is the thing you came to do.

The fleet page is where the place shows through. It runs from a small manual hatchback for getting around town to four-wheel drives for weather that does not negotiate, takes in an electric Tesla and a Mercedes van, and then keeps going into open and closed trailers. Every vehicle carries its daily rate on the card. Publishing price up front loses you the enquiry, which is the point: it also loses you the enquiry that was never going to convert.

It runs in Danish and English, because the audience is split between residents and visitors and neither should feel like they are reading a translated afterthought. Danish is the default rather than the accommodation.

The harder structural problem is that this is not one business. Car rental sits alongside car washing, corporate and long-term hire, chauffeured transport and a sponsorship programme, and each of those carries its own conditions: rental terms, wash terms, driver-service terms, a payment page, an FAQ. The site had to hold several contracts and one brand without turning the navigation into a filing cabinet. Shuttle, the group’s transport company, gets a page here and links back, so the two read as related rather than rival.

Opening hours are published with the after-hours number and weekend delivery beside them, which is the detail that matters when the flight lands at nine in the evening.
